Dandelion Chocolate + 826 Valencia

Back in 2012 a new chocolatier was moving into San Francisco’s Mission district named, Dandelion Chocolate. They partnered with the non-profit tutoring center — 826 Valencia (which already existed in the neighborhood) — for a Chocolate/Creative writing project to celebrate their arrival! The end result was a book of student's poems, stories, and thoughts along with a delicious Pirate inspired sea salt chocolate bar!

I had the pleasure of working with the creative director at 826 Valencia to design the wrapper as well as the accompanying chapbook. We added little moments of “pirate” to the bar labels as well as the wrapper. The inside of the book showcased the stories and poems the students wrote relating to chocolate and in some cases being chocolate!

826 is a non-profit that encourages students to discover and develop their written voice. The importance of copy was also demonstrated on everything 826 produced. This bar of chocolate was no acception.
